The Wedding Channel featured some of the great details from Morgan and Kennon's September 2007 wedding at V. Sattui in Napa recently! Here are some of my favorites:

Elizabeth and Darren's wedding on the Grey Likes Weddings blog

Yay! It's always nice to start my week off with some recognition from one of my favorite wedding style blogs. In this case, it's Elizabeth and Darren's fabulous Napa Valley wedding on the Grey Likes Weddings blog. Summer at GLW did a beautiful job of arranging the photos, it looks so pretty! And, yes, it's true - while Elizabeth and Darren did hire some fantastic wedding vendors and venues, Elizabeth did all of the planning herself, from the East Coast, and worked with one of her bridesmaids/ graphic designer to create some really lovely printed pieces. I don't know how she did it all, but she did, and the end result was so elegant and lovely.

I have lots and lots of wonderful editing, shooting, and blogging to do - but not as much time - and only one Jessamyn to do it all - so I am giving you a little sneak peek of an amazing wedding that is so dear to my heart (and where I was both a guest and the photographer). My college friends, Sarah and Rick, were married at one of the most beautiful places in the world - a private estate in Glen Ellen - and I have SO many photos to share! But for now you just get a glimpse of the fabulousness that is Sarah and Rick and their love for each other.

Rose's Senior Portraits, Penngrove

Rose is my cousin Henry (and Morgan and Josh)'s half sister - so, no blood relation to me, but it's been fun knowing her since she was a baby. And now, suddenly, she's starting her senior year of high school! I was honored that she and her parents chose me to do her senior portraits, and she is so beautiful that it was a treat to do it!





We did these in Rose's parents' backyard. We had talked about going to some nearby locations, but when I got there I thought, "are you kidding me?! This is perfect!". What a beautiful, quintessential Sonoma County evening.



It also meant we got to include the pets in some shots:



And Rose got to change outfits easily and privately. Everyone should have such a beautiful backyard!































You may be wondering why these don't look like "typical" senior portraits. We're lucky in that Rose goes to a school that requires complete uniformity with the drape and the studio lighting, to the point that they do all of their yearbook senior shots at school. So we had complete freedom to do whatever we wanted, and to get some really unique, fun shots in natural light, for these non-yearbook shots. I love this one!











And, of course, a few shots of Rose with roses. Her dad's a big gardener, so I thought Bob would like a little shout out to his rose garden!

Encaustics by Ghostbee - a unique new product!

At long last, I'm ready to share a newer product I'm offering. In collaboration with my wonderful painter friend, Meredith, of Ghostbee, I can now create very unique, custom art piece from your favorite photo. This product is called "encaustic" - and it involves mounting your favorite image to board, and painting it with a special blend of (locally sourced) beeswax and resin and an optional painted tint or graphics. The result enriches and transforms the images so that they have a new, etheral dimension (and a delicious beeswax smell!), texture, and depth.



You really need to see them in person to get the full effect - I have some small pieces that I can easily bring around to share, so let me know if you'd like to take a look!

Encaustic paintings are extremely archival and long lasting. They do not yellow with age, and are impervious to moisture. The most famous encaustics are the Fayum Portraits of Ancient Egypt. They were painted in the first century A.D., and they still look as fresh as they did the day they were made."





I had some samples made from favorite images, and am so happy with how they look. I have several on my walls, and have given others as gifts.
