Delphine and Joel, the Inn at Victorian Gardens, Manchester, California

Delphine and Joel were married in a tiny ceremony at the beautiful Inn at Victorian Gardens, way out on the rural Mendocino coast. Delphine's family traveled from France, and Joel's from the Midwest, for the weekend. They brought me out to document this simple but lovely event, and it was such a pleasure to work with the two of them (as well as to practice a bit of my rusty French!).

Delphine had an ipod mini inscribed "Pour Mon Petit Mari" (for my little husband) as a wedding gift for Joel.

Delphine and Joel hired an officiant to speak in English, as well as a translator for the French speakers. The officiant knew my aunt and uncle, who lived in Mendocino for many years, and the translator's name was my mother's, "Joelle". To complicate things, "Joel" is pronounced the same as "Joelle" in French... so when I arrived at the Inn and was asked, "are you Joelle?" I didn't know if they thought I was my mother, the groom, or what!

One of my favorite first kiss moments:

Delphine has a true joie de vivre, running, leaping, grinning and joking everywhere she goes... so fun to photograph!
