More Style Me Pretty, and: I need some vacation recommendations...

Okay, first let me admit that I've been feeling a little guilty about not updating enough with new photos this week. Sorry guys! I feel particularly bad because I know that I have some new readers (from the wonderful Design*Sponge and the lovely Style Me Pretty blogs - you guys are so awesome, thank you!), and I have lots of photos to share. In the meantime, here are a few more of the boards that Abby at SMP came up with from Alex and Rich's fabulous wedding:

As well as a board she made of some of my work, calling me one of her favorite photographers! Definitely blushing over here : )

Now, as a small digression, I am hoping that some of you don't mind helping me with a question. I'm turning 30 (!!!) on August 1st, and for a few years I've promised myself that I could spend that week on a beautiful tropical beach with my husband, relaxing, swimming, snorkeling, and not doing much of anything. But I am having a hard time figuring out where to go. As of now the serious contenders are:

-Mexico (Puerto Vallarta or elsewhere on the West Coast)
-Belize
-Hawaii (Maui? The Big Island? Oahu?)

However, I'm worrying a little about going during rainy season; hurricane season; tourist season; and mosquito season. I've never been to Mexico or Central America, so I got a book on Puerto Vallarta, and a book about Belize, and I am pondering and reading and daydreaming and thinking. But I'm still not sure what to do. Maybe some of you have advice?

Another option would be to go to somewhere local (Mendocino, Big Sur, etc) for a lovely birthday weekend, and then take the full week's tropical vacation for our anniversary (December 15th). But then I wonder, will I be disappointed that I won't be somewhere more exotic and fabulous? Or will I be relieved that we took a little more time to plan a second lovely vacation?

So, please let me know if you have any thoughts, recommendations or ideas. Devon and I did a lot of traveling in the past few years, but all in the USA, so we look forward to going somewhere new. What we look for in a vacation is somewhere we can swim, relax, have some privacy, avoid a ton of tourists yet feel comfortable and safe, and generally enjoy the scenery without being "extreme" or anything. We love to snorkel, swim (can't emphasize that enough!), eat local food, and hike.

Thanks so much, and I cross my heart there will be some fun (and adorable) new photos on Monday! Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

I know it's not as exotic as Belize or Hawaii but White Sands, New Mexico is really pretty awesome.

if you go to puerto vallarta check out dreams resort. combined with airfare, your stay and the all inclusive part it's a great deal! plus they have a private beach (no vendors bombarding you) and great pools. we felt safe. we went on our honeymoon so it was a great way to relax after a wedding. even if you leave the resort for some local food and shopping it's still worth it.

We just did my birthday weekend in Point Reyes, 40 minutes from home, and it was so nice and so relaxing. (No cell phone signal, no blackberry signal, and it was AMAZING. Email if you want info on the great place we stayed.) That said, it's not a tropical beach. And if you can do a tropical beach, go for it. I've never done a vacation like that.

Meg - I think you read my mind! It looks like we're going to wait until our anniversary in December to try to do a big trip (more time to plan, and better tropical weather right when it's getting really awful here), so I'm thinking of having a long weekend romantic birthday trip somewhere along the Pt. Reyes penninsula (maybe Tomales Bay, Inverness, Stinson Beach, etc...). Other possibilities are Santa Cruz/ Big Sur; Mendocino; somewhere pretty in Lake County or Northern Sonoma County; the Russian River; my favorite inn in Kenwood; ... maybe I can just take the whole summer off to vacation around Northern California? : ) Thanks for the advice!
