Sonoma County Fair

Here are some more old photos from July (I think), when Devon and I and some friends went to the Sonoma County Fair. I hate to say it, but compared to the Marin County Fair, it was a total dud. Maybe it's because rides weren't free, or because there wasn't a gorgeous view, or because there was hardly anyone at the Sonoma County one. I don't know. I think we were just not really in the mood for the fair... certainly we got enough "fair" action for one year (if not many)!

That's me as, I guess, Dumbledore in the "Harry Potter" area.

In case you didn't think Sean was cute enough, here he is petting a baby kangaroo (wallaby? something):

Devon bought way too many ride tickets and then no one wanted to ride with him. At first he was having fun... then he just felt sick.

Are we too old for the fair? : (

Definitely we're too old for the "Wild Mouse" - the mini roller coaster that looked completely unstable, kept breaking down, and - right as we were waiting in one of the little cars - got stuck for 10 minutes, and smelled like puke. Needless to say, we didn't end up riding it after all. We didn't think the carny would give us back our tickets, but he did! - thanks to the "Carny Code"?

Bumper cars!

This ride was kind of terrifying - in that a. it spun around and around in various ways (like every single ride there but the Wild Mouse - maybe THAT'S why we weren't stoked on the fair?!), but also b. the carny running it had techno BLASTING and had changed the entrace sign to read "trance", yet he had really slicked back hair and a DEEP tan, and also c. the ride itself was made of crazy Viking goddesses, and the riders were sort of riding in her fists... being tossed around by huge women.

And, yet again, the ride started out fun:

But after a minute or so, made everyone feel sick:

How funny Devon is wearing a Hemi hat while driving a bumper car - I love the irony!
